The 2023 Prize: "DISABILITY and TRANSFORMATION for an INCLUSIVE SOCIETY"

 THE 2023 Eleanor Worthington Prize, fifteen year

Theme: "DISABILITY and TRANSFORMATION for an INCLUSIVE SOCIETY"

The Eleanor Worthington Prize on Art and Disability is open to all students at secondary school level in the UK, and Italy. No entry fee is payable. All Visual Art forms are admitted. 

The Prize is run by the Associazione Premio Eleanor Worthington-ODV, a non-profit organisation based in Urbino, Italy, in keeping with its aims and philosophy  based on the definition of disability in the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disability.

THE THEME FOR 2023

 is “Disability and Transformation for an Inclusive Society”

 HOW TO ENTER 

Entries should be submitted  by 15 April 2023 inclusive.

 

Videos and animations must last at most minutes, and must be in MP4 format, with H264 compression.

All video subjects developing the theme are welcome, e.g. fiction, documentary, experimental.

 

EVALUATION

 Evaluation of the works will use five  criteria, all of equal mportance:

Relevance to the theme

Communicative effectiveness

Originality

Specific competence

Overall impression

 

 

 

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 

All submitted works must have a title. They can also optionally be accompanied by a short statement of their “concept” underlying the work. EachcConcept must be max 400 characters, spaces included.

All concepts must be in .doc or .docx format.  The statement of the entrant’s details should likewise be in .doc or .docx format

Submitted works may have an audio description, in English and or Italian, to last no more than 2 minutes, in MP3 format.

 

 All images must be in .jpg (not .pdf) format. They must be high-resolution (min. 300DPI), for the purpose of appearing in the exhibition, where they would most likely be printed as 70x50m.

Entries are submitted by schools, not by individual students.

Schools should submit their work through a Google Drive folder ("parent folder"), whose name corresponds to the name of the school.

A link to this “parent folder” should be emailed to info@premioeleanor.it.

It is essential that the link allows the Prize to access the folder in ‘editor’ mode (i.e. when creating the link choose the option "anyone on the Internet with the link can edit")

The “parent folder” contains as many subfolders as the number of submitting students. Each subfolder has the surname and name of the submitting student.

Everything submitted inside each ‘subfolder’– images, video, the audio description (optional, see below), and the concept (optional, see below) - should be fully anonymised. Except that if a video is submitted, there should also be an additional version of it which displays all relevant names (e.g. in the credits).

 

 

Each subfolder’should also contain a statement of the entrant’s surname name and first name (in that order), the school which the entrant is enrolled in, the entrant’s year of the course, and the submitted work’s title 

Entries by more than one eligible authors are admissible, but the value of the prize remains unchanged.

THE PRIZES

all prizes are of equal amount, i.e. 300 euros. each

PRIZE-GIVING EVENT AND EXHIBITION

The prize-giving event will take place on Tuesday 16 May 2023 between 10 a.m. and 12 noon in the Sala degli Incisori, Collegio Raffaello, Urbino, Italy; the event will also be available on line, details to be announced in due course.

During the prize giving event all entries will be displayed in digital form. All entries will be displayed in an exhibition in august 2023 in Urbino,  with details to be announced in due course.
