DISABILITY AND INCLUSION. LONELINESS AND SOLIDARITY

In this work I represented a man's hand and a woman's hand, on the palm of their hands there is a little man in a wheelchair who represents the disabled person. The human hand is ajar to give a sense of closure and represents the people who tend to exclude and judge the disabled, instead, the woman's hand is open to give a sense of freedom and represents the people who welcome and help people disabled. I used the man's hand, which is strong and hard, drawing it semi-closed, because it makes me think of a blocked road that represents an obstacle; instead, I used the woman's hand, which is gentle and delicate, drawing it open, because it makes me think of a free road without obstacles. I wanted to represent the "disabled" person with a stylized character and of a size smaller than that of the "non-disabled" person to highlight the often wrong view we use towards those who are different.

Technique: graphic design with Adobe Illustrator.
