2010/11 PRIZE "TOLERANCE AND ABILITIES" > Submitted works > Tavianucci

In order to express the concept and the theme “Tolerance and Abilities” I have wanted to represent an intolerant individual who violently relates with those he comes across during the day. First it squashes a fly which had landed on his face, then beats up an old lady whom he meets strolling along the raod, then grabs a dog by the tail and throws it in the air because it was urinating on a hydrant, and lastly he crashes a window in which he sees himself reflected.

I have wanted to censor violent scenes with black framings, during which only sound and noise raise the impression of what is going on.

The story brings out the idea that the one who does not care about other people’s needs cannot get along with either people or one self or with one’s own image. Through the man’s action, it comes over that after having behaved so badly with whatever he encountered, he has eventually destroyed his own reflection in a window, unable even to stand his own image.
