2010/11 PRIZE "TOLERANCE AND ABILITIES" > Submitted works > Bernabucci

In order to develop the theme “Tolerance and abilities” I have chosen to draw a girl with a mask about to immerse herself into water. The girl incarnates perfection, and the mask she is wearing is the symbol of her falsehood, because all people indistinctly have some limits and abilities proportionate to their own being. Diversity is therefore evident, and tolerance is the mean allowing us to potentiate our abilities thanks to other people’s different abilities. The main character entering the water notices a white rose floating on the surface, and discovers that the image of the rose is reflected in it, but not her own. The rose therefore represents the simplicity and beauty of imperfection which is ireflected  in the water just as it is;  contrary to  the girl who is  not reflected  in the water  because she does not exists and is not truthful. Therefore we can say that “ People’s beauty resides in their diversity, the less intelligent find refuge in the hypocrisy of an ephemeral perfection only because of their cowardice”
